Who should implement IATF 16949?

The standard is intended for suppliers of companies from the automotive industry, it replaced ISO / TS 16949. The implementation of a quality management system compliant with the TS 16949 standard makes sense only when:

• We are going to become a supplier to an automotive company,
• Our client requires us to be IATF 16949.

Of course, it is possible that our client does not come from the automotive industry, but requires us to have an implemented or certified (or both) quality management system based on IATF 16949.
 

What is the implementation of a system compliant with IATF 16949?

The IATF 16949 quality management system requires more documented procedures and records than ISO 9001. Additionally, it is required to introduce full statistical process control in order to monitor the level of deficiencies, create negatively actuated feedback systems at the inter-operational control level.
Due to the necessity to adapt production in terms of production organization to SPC requirements, it can be concluded that the system is one of the most difficult to implement.
