The topic of quality management is a relatively young issue in Poland. Before the political changes, he was almost unknown to us. At the beginning of the 90s, the first Polish enterprises became interested in quality management systems, which directed their offer to a Western customer.
The development of the Polish economy over the past 15 years has resulted in a gradual increase in the wealth of the Polish customer’s portfolio and a change in attitude towards consumer goods.
At the beginning of the transformation period, the Polish consumer (this also applies to the organizational consumer) made a purchase decision solely on the basis of the price, and the market accepted all quantities of goods, regardless of their quality. At present, the Polish consumer pays close attention to the price and quality of the goods offered, in particular, it can be observed on the example of tenders announced by state administration bodies and enterprises. In the first year of the 21st century, the only condition was the price for a large part of the Terms of Reference! An additional impulse to change the supplier selection criteria was provided by the pre-accession and post-accession aid programs of the European Union. The opening of the Polish economy to the world has also resulted in a gradual increase in exports to the European Union and the United States, where quality criteria are the basis for making purchasing decisions. Due to the necessity to place great emphasis on the quality of the offered product or service, the Polish entrepreneur became interested in quality assurance and management systems.
